Castle & Cooke Aviation at Van Nuys Pilot ReviewsOverall Rating:

Former FBO Director here. I’d strongly advise pilots to be cautious with Castle & Cooke VNY. On the same day, two different crews fueling our Citation walked away and left the fuel nozzle unattended in the over-wing port. Neither crew used wing mats. When questioned, the morning line tech got confrontational, and the evening crew made the exact same unsafe error. Seeing multiple crews treat this kind of carelessness as normal points to serious training problems and management that has completely failed.

Castle and Cooke Aviation at KVNY has been consistently disappointing over almost two years. Since securing the CAA fuel contract at my home field, service has been sluggish, unwelcoming, and forgetful. The line crew roll their eyes when I show up, decline to fuel at my hangar, and one time shouted at me after I parked where their own frequency instructed me to. KVNY has superior FBOs-try somewhere else. If the culture shifts, I would give them a fresh opportunity, but I am not optimistic.

Flew Piper Piston for quick lunch. They were fine enough to squeeze me in, on the day of, as they were fully booked. No LL. $40 per day ramp fee $25 facility fee $65 paid for my hour stay Allowed use of Courtesy Car (a small mercedes SUV) Hey, it's VNY/LA... things are costly. I would return though since I have family nearby.

Good C.A.A. fuel costs. Fine facility. However, odd fee structure. Charges are per day. So, for instance, one overnight stay even when leaving within 24 hours is billed as two days. Why?

We gave the line service team and front desk our fuel load Sunday afternoon, but when we showed up Monday morning, the fueling still had not been done. Rather than getting the aircraft fueled right away, they then took more than 30 minutes just to bring a truck over, despite it looking like there was nothing else happening. Also, this location has no GPU available. Really miss Clay Lacy holding the CAA contract.

Garbage... pay the extra fuel cost somewhere else. Unfriendly, slow awful service... wish I read the comments before coming here

NO FUEL Took a 90 minute hold up with Pax waiting. If you need more than a couple thousand gallons suggest getting a guarantee of availability or use a better resourced FBO.

Lisa's the early morning receptionist with the diabetic dog + another old husky & a cat. Kenny G is the guy with the 'cool voice' according to Ruth.

GPU is apparently not usable for starts, that is something you should inform crews before they board the plane. Really strange limitation.

I read the prior remarks and they remain accurate. I flightbridged and phoned an hour before departing. They phoned as i was booting up the aircraft to get an updated eta. When I arrived they parked me in the farthest possible corner and the sloppily dressed fellow that met me at the aircraft had no notion I had pax and was incorrect on our departure. They did drive pax to/from main fbo. I stayed at the north building. It is technically a lobby but it is treated more like a line guy rest spot. Mixed experience
