Bob Maxwell Memorial Airfield Pilot Reviews:

Edward D.

July 1, 2026

The airport is leased to and operated by a 'small disadvantaged business' entity. They declined to follow the state's requirement to remove the underground fuel tanks, so they can still use those tanks for fuel storage. Because of that, they can only buy limited amounts of fuel at a time, which goes straight into the fuel trucks. That's what has been keeping the price high ($11+/gal) for quite awhile. Fuel remains expensive there.

What's going on with the fuel prices there these days? Are they actually trying to discourage people from landing there?

CALL AHEAD IF YOU PLAN TO RENT BIKES. There were 13 bicycles available at no charge, and after confirming you're a pilot, the owner will call or send you a code. The bikes are provided to get pilots into Oceanside and bring additional federal funding to the airport. They're all older donated bicycles, but they're kept in good shape, and nobody in our group had any problems.
