Good place for inexpensive fuel but terrible control tower oversight. Poorest tower controller I have ever observed. On 5/23/25 the tower controller permitted 6 planes in the pattern to keep doing touch and gos while 5 planes wait at end of the runway waiting over 20 minutes to depart in the hot Texas heat. Avoid this airport and go to Temple (TPL) for inexpensive fuel and welcoming people.

First time at KGTU. Landed on a Friday after they were closed and got the last tie down. I stayed for a week. When I left Friday morning there were only a few planes in tie down area. Super fine place and folks. Only $5/ night with first night free and one more free if you buy gas at self service pump. (They don’t have a fuel truck.). I didn’t need to use the curtesy car but apparently one I’d available. I will be back. Doug D.

Superb experience there! Ramp fee waived with purchase of any amount of SS fuel for the initial 3 days. Maximum stay is 30 days and you must relocate. 2 Crew cars available for 4 hours, but you must remain at GeorgeTown

Fuel is self service finest costs in the area stayed for a couple evenings.

Friendly tower in the morning. Mr. grumpy guy late afternoon. This was the only cross country stop in several where the manager made me fold my wings (Stemme S12 motor glider). I should have gone next door to Cutter Aviations huge ramp. Self serve fuel prices were good and late afternoon managers were fine.

Fine airport with a welcoming tower. Fuel was low priced at the self serve. Quite busy with training located on the field.

There are always cars available in my view. And plenty of tie downs.

Called on the UNICOM CHANNEL for 45 min as I came in to land, they never answered. Just wanted a crew car to grab a bite before my long Xc back home. Quite a bit let down.
