Heads up, because of the runway curve and elevation, traffic can’t be seen from either end while you’re on the ground. It’s critical to use the common traffic advisory frequency (CTAF) 122.9 for position reports. This is a great place to fly in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Plan on at least two hours if you’re going to check out the Patton Musuem. Everything is just a short walk away.

Cool small facility in the middle of the desert! There’s food and restrooms close by. The museum around the corner was closed, but it was still neat to see the tanks thru the fence. Very quiet air traffic wise. Picturesque desert scenery. Absolutely worth a stop!

The restaurant food is good and Mrs. Chiriaco is a hoot. The Patton museum is fantastic, it was a lot more than I was expecting and you have the opportunity to drive a tank, yes a tank. Get a Foster's Freeze on the way back to the ramp. Great tie down chains, all airport ramps should offer these.
