September 18, 2025Runway has been damaged while in use as helicopter base during the Madre and Gifford wildfires. Asphalt shows rutting and shoving caused by heavy loads during excessively hot conditions - showing as waves and grooves intermittently dispersed in the center of the runway. Repairs anticipated before the conclusion of 2025.

March 20, 2025Runway is in good condition, taxiway and ramp a little rocky, but manageable. Simple walk to Buckhorn resort which includes a bar, eatery and cafe. Pilots are encouraged to fly in and to sign the log book at the cafe cashier. The plane traffic helps to justify the upkeep of the airport.
