Flew a PC-12 into Thun Field (KPLU) on a Friday afternoon. After several telephone discussions, I arrived and the FBO was vacant. I was anticipating two rental cars, but, since the FBO was shut, zero rental cars. There are locks on the gates (as there ought to be) but once you exit the controlled zone, you cannot get back into your aircraft, because the gate code is not posted anywhere. Most uncontrolled airfields have a sign showing the code on the interior of the gate.

Good spot. Folks at SpanaFlight are always willing to assist. There's a gate, but the code is public. Ask anyone there at any time and they will tell you. There's a bar, and (obviously) it's 21+. There is also a chipotle and Denny's across the street. Tie down is inexpensive, so no worries on that.
