Native to Ormond, now in AZ. Flew Harry Criss' 172 in the 80s. Facility was a good spot then. Around 2002, flight school took control of Sunrise. Over a fairly brief period of time, all focus shifted to training overseas aviators. GA planes are treated almost with disdain. I quit even attempting to land here in a familiar location to see relatives within a few miles 10 or so years ago. Flagler is comparable. This has been occurring for over 20 years, nobody appears to care. I don't anymore. ; (

I’ve now made several trips into OMN over the past few months and can state Sunrise Aviation the sole FBO on the field is awful if it truly is present at all. The structure hasn’t changed since the early 1980’s, and anticipating any kind of assistance is questionable. Seldom are tie-downs accessible, no line-person to help w/ parking. No cooling in what might have been an FBO at one point. After hours and weekends nobody is even at the desk. They anticipate you to go to the nearby hangar flight school to check-in. Be cautious you are by yourself if you plan to stay overnight here. Consider utilizing one of the FBO’s at DAB where you will obtain complete service. Regrettably its been a very frustrating time each stop. - Alex V.

Having read the reviews i arrived prepared :). First off, the airport is wonderfully situated and the controllers could not be nicer. Self serve fuel was available and simple to use, no risk sensed. The fbo is in the back around the corner, past the flight school. As in earlier comments, ain't nobody home lol. Brought my own chocks, uber was fast, got in/out no problemo. Obviously if i was expecting any service at all would be a problem. Come ready to self serve and you're fine!

Wouldn't suggest flying in here. This is the sole fbo for planes flying into Ormond. Although the airport is small and simple to get into, I would prefer to go to Daytona. Facility has minimal services and is very short staffed. Flew in Saturday Night and departed Sunday morning but still got charged for 3 nights worth of parking, in which only one got waived from buying 18 gallons of fuel. Personnel also aren't the kindest. Go to Daytona and sacrifice the longer drive if going to Ormond.

Sunrise Aviation is in charge of the fuel farm. The facility isn't secure and charges $2 to 3.00 More than other airports in the vicinity. The owner of this flight school has no concern for the old building, shortage of services and hazardous fuel farm. Very unfortunate, Ormond could be a good airport if there was at least a 24 hour bathroom, a snack machine or even a soda machine for travelers. Such a pity the city allows this one man to ruin what could be a superb airport.

$15 ramp charge for absolutely no reason. No parking accessible because flight school planes occupy all spaces. FBO young staff member did not even guide us in or make any effort to help with parking. Could not assist us with a rental car also. All he was able to do was collect the $15 ramp charge. Do not suggest this FBO. Go to Daytona.
