Mariposa-Yosemite (KMPI)

Put down there earlier this week. The terrain surrounding the airport adds a bit of difficulty, though it’s completely manageable in a C172. Since runway 26 slopes slightly, getting stopped was easy. ForeFlight labels the asphalt as "poor," but honestly I found the runway condition better than average! 100LL was cheap as well. The one real downside is having no way to get into town-there’s no Uber or Lyft. Locals said a rental car company would bring a car out, but wanted $100 for that service. Not where I’d choose to fly if the park was the destination.

Bummer, good small airport, the County has let this fine thing go. They once had a perfect FBO that was taking care of the locals and the transient planes and now it closed on weekends ( far as I know) only a half broken water fountain that is almost impossible to locate and we had to flag down the sheriff to give us a ride. The locals are losing business from the mismanagement. I'd recommend the county give an FBO $0 cost rent and keep the airport moving ahead.

Landed here today in our Baron. Beautiful airport but discovered there is no transportation on weekends. Uber and Lyft are not available nor is any taxi service. Bring your bikes or scooters if you want to go into town which is a bit over 5 miles away.
