Flightline at Southern Illinois Pilot ReviewsOverall Rating:

August 19, 2025No seating in the FBO and the pilot lounge was locked. Bags of crisps are all expired (did not realize until after we departed). Clean restroom but quite underwhelmed with desk staff and accommodations.

August 4, 2024Fine overnight in C210. Kind individuals, I got crew car within an hour of closing for trip to hotel. Nearby Holiday Inn Express didn't answer phone, Best Western was fine but not super. Airport eatery not open Mondays or for breakfast. No flight planning or pilot computer at FBO.

December 7, 2022Made my way into MDH and flightline recently. I don’t think I’ve seen an airport with such good people! Aviation usually has good folks around it but this place is above and beyond. Fine staff at flightline and good food on the field. The manager Amanda and customer service rep Mercy were super nice and helpful on my arrival and departure. Great folks!

August 4, 2022Full disclosure, I used to work at this FBO 20 years ago when it was Southern Air Service. I just recently got back into GA flying and have transited the ‘New-to-me’ FBO a few times since to pick up my father. Max, Elena, and everybody there were very helpful in every way. The line personnel met me at the plane every time, they answered the radio when I called in-range, they found me a spot in the hangar overnight, etc. Costs were reasonable—fuel is a little on the high side —but no ramp fee, and the assistance easily justified the price. There is a comfortable lounge, clean restrooms, rentals and instruction offered. I believe they even have a courtesy car again! I was happy to see they have a C-310 to rent! Wish we had had one of those back in the day! Rob Nelson’s (Enhanced Aero) maintenance hangar, a pristine shop, is right next door and can handle any issue or service you may need. He specializes in modern avionics installs, worked on military jets in the USAF for 10 years,

April 10, 2025Stopped for a quick turn mid day on Sunday, good experience. The line guys were fine, fuel was a good price. Very simple in and out. Not busy. Will stop there for sure again. The sandwiches in the Flightline fridge were excellent but not advertised. Restaurant on the field but I didn't eat there.

July 25, 2024Wonderful stop on our way back from the east needing fuel, and a break. The eatery on the field is a superb choice. Very much enjoyed. Fuel was moderately priced and assistance was exceptional.

March 17, 2024Stopped on my way to ISM taking family to Disney. Needed fuel, oxygen, and dinner. Line guy directed me down the field to someone who could charge y OX, Followed me down there in the fuel truck, fueled me, and gave me a ride back to the Saint Nicolas Brewery which is right next to FBO, Good food, and reasonably priced in a brand new building. After dinner, ride back to my plane which had OX refilled. Good place to stop. Hoping to stop on my way back

July 7, 2021I chose MDH as a late afternoon fuel stop on my journey to MN from FL after diverting from my intended route because of WX. Man am I happy I did. Taxiing to the ramp I had a tire rupture from a piece of gear door linkage on my plane that came loose. Max and the crew at Flightline did a superb job of replacing my tire and getting me and my family back into the air that evening!
