November 25, 2024Flew out at night. The bathrooms are open 24 hours and on the north side of the FBO. They were recently remodeled and very tidy. The fuel is on the south side of the FBO building and the pump works well. Pedestrian gate is on the south side by the fuel pumps. 1975 M20F

July 29, 2023The personnel working here were good to us. Staged from here for a week. No frills FBO, but fine fuel prices, clean bathrooms and kind service. Thank you to the guys on the line and Vivian. Now if only you could do something about the temperature! :) See you again soon. DeX,

November 28, 2022Cherokee 6 - quiet little airport apart from military choppers. Didn’t charge any fees (valued). Even provided a sandwich (also valued). Small FBO but satisfied my requirements with very tidy restrooms. I will return.

May 17, 2022I, an older woman pilot, flew into KIPL on an Angelflight to collect blood donations. Older gentleman at the FBO was extremely rude…said that he has nothing to do with blood donations…then yelled at me to CALM DOWN and was clearly agitated… I had called earlier in the day to leave my tailnumber with him and he hung up on me. Unhappy guy…too bad

March 19, 2025Nice airport and fbo the some of the personnel are fine and willing to assist but some of them weren't as willing to assist and treaded us like a chore and not a customer

November 11, 2023Extremely rude service from the worker at the desk. Came and got fuel and then tried to get a crew car as we were stuck here while maintenance serviced a plane. We were told "when you fly a LearJet here then I'll give you a crew car" and then proceeded to be told "we don't give crew cars to student pilots" to two flight instructors. If you're not flying a LearJet consider bringing your business somewhere else.

January 25, 2023Have used this fbo two times. The initial occasion a gentleman met with us, fueled us up, loaned us the truck, and was extremely fine and supportive. Went back a fortnight later, and there was a different man working that time. His name is Larry. Right when we opened the plane door he yelled at us from across the lot that he will not be fueling us up, and that we need to use self serve fuel. However we did not have a company card with us, and I know that they have our card on file because I used it two weeks ago. We waited a minute and the fuel truck was driving up to us. As he was approaching Larry walked outside and waved them off telling them not to fuel us up. We were confused so we called the fbo number. A very nice lady on the phone picked up and said that the fuel truck will be over to us shortly. The fuel truck drove past us and walked inside to talk with Larry. They then came out and said that they are not able to fill us up because the truck is broken AND that we do not have a card on file.

August 5, 2021Beware of Imperial Flying Service! I flew to KIPL on 9 February 2021 during an engine break-in period. I refueled and when I tried to start the engine again, it was apparent the battery had discharged and there wasn’t sufficient cranking power to start the engine. I called the FBO for a battery cart and they brought out a military grade battery cart. There is a placard on the aircraft battery access door, which clearly reads “12V Power Only” in bold letters. I got in the aircraft to monitor instruments and conduct an engine start. When I rotated the “Battery” rocker switch I heard a loud pop from the battery compartment followed by the smell of burning wire. My partner (a CFI) and I immediately shouted to disconnect. Upon survey, the battery blew up, wiring harnesses were melted and there was other damage. When we asked what happened, the lineman acknowledged he used 24V current in a clearly marked 12V system and he claimed the pilot “…said it was OK.” The total damage was $3,764.93 and Imperial Flying Service denies any wrong doing whatsoever. The insurance company that covered the claim wrote Imperial Flying Service demanding they pay for the damage they caused the aircraft, but the FBO didn’t so much as give the courtesy of a reply. The fuel price may be cheaper, but integrity and professional competence is far more vital. - Aram B.
