What a treasure of a location. Had to divert here due to severe forest fire haze and visibility went to under one mile. Could not see runway until about 1/2 mile distant. I get landed and this superb woman named Betty is there to welcome me even though it was past 8pm. This lady is a true jewel for Hawthorne. No phrases can convey my gratitude for her. She truly adores her community and airport. My visit comprised two days and it was a delight for me. Certainly will come back just to see them.

Although Foreflight doesn't show it, this airport does offer Jet-A.

Amazing small airport! Worth going out of your way to stop by and fuel up. Nicely kept and the service is top quality. Betty is the sweetest and gave us a ride to the store as well as helped us fuel up. Town also has two fine museums.

Betty is an absolute unit of a human being! Outstanding service, amazing scrap books written by Betty highlighting aviation in Hawthorne for your reading pleasure, and free crew car available. Fuel is self serve but hoses are 75' and single point jet-a is available. Our CH-47 Chinook helicopter had no issues fueling here. Highly recommend!

Others have mentioned it but I MUST state it,also… Betty is wonderful! She is so kind and welcoming. I’m truly anticipating visiting there again the next time I’m traveling that direction. Alright, now that that’s addressed, the airport is good, too. New pavement, lots of tie down spots available, inexpensive fuel, crew car to get food, etc. It’s not Millionaire or Signature, with theater rooms and “free” water, but it does not come with their excessive, “go away, GA!” costs, either.

So JETA is available. Betty essentially runs things. Call her direct if needed...

Self-serve 100LL and Jet A accessible all day and night. Well-known local airport volunteer Betty will meet and greet you to Hawthorne if you file a flight plan into KHTH; she's a dedicated volunteer who documents every arrival and departure to assist bringing FAA funding to the airport. As an outcome, the runway's in beautiful shape! Betty's a joy to talk with, too.

Good spot to stop. Tony greeted me and helped fuel my plane with 100LL at the self serve. Strongly suggest.

New favorite small town airport! Fantastic ramp and runways, look brand new! Self Serve for both Avgas and Jet A, working perfectly and look brand new. Service here is phenomenal with volunteers going out of their way to assist you! Easy crew car and some fine grub in town as well.

Betty is amazing. She organizes volunteers, purchased 3 courtesy vehicles, pays for the upkeep and insurance and even bought the ladder herself. We checked on a courtesy car the day before our arrival. Upon arriving a volunteer was waiting with our immaculate courtesy car. My wife is handicapped and the host even offered to take her to the pristine FBO in a gulf cart. Betty is an inspiration on volunteerism. We will always use Hawthorne as a fuel stop.
