John F Kennedy Memorial Airport (KASX)

I had planned to fly up and take a look at the place in my RV. The airport folks were friendly and told me driveoscar.com was the only option for a rental car. I made the arrangements, but then my wife came down with a pretty serious infection. I canceled two days ahead of time and still got charged the full $275. I was pretty bummed for more than one reason. Flying can be unpredictable, so I won't be using driveoscar.com again.

Good small log cabin FBO. Stopped by for fuel and the FBO manager Bill is a stand-up fellow! Very welcoming and offered much courtesy in the world on my stop to make you feel like family. If airport dogs are your thing, he has the sweetest pair of Newfoundlands you'll ever meet. Will certainly return some time when I can make a day trip of the area!

Best small airport in the midwest. Diverted here because of weather, stayed for 3 hours with my children. Good lounge area, warm, courtesy car available, snacks, tv, like a cabin in the forest. Very cozy.

Be certain that the remarks are correct. Derrick was on the ramp to meet me, prepared to supply whatever he could. There is a courtesy car and a very clean minivan for rental -- quite affordable. The FBO is very good; it contains everything you require. I intend on coming back: everyone in town is welcoming and says hello, there are so many fine dining places and stores, and the downtown, shore path, and paintings are lovely. This location is a treasure.

Made a quick trip up to stop for fuel and it was good! Derrick was working and was very kind and courteous. Talked aviation and asked if we needed anything. Log cabin FBO has an awesome feel to it and all the amenities are fine. FBO was very clean and welcoming! We will definitely be back!

Good stop if you like hiking the Lake Superior shoreline or Copper Falls State Park. Very fine airport facilities for overnight and many hotels. Airport vehicle was out for the days we were visiting but we used the rental car available from Ray’s Auto Repair. Give them a call to arrange. Car was at the airport waiting when we arrived and easily dropped off when we left.
