Fuel service was unavailable, leaving only the more expensive FBO as an option.

Flew into F44 today to do some business in nearby Athens. Gaylan, a pilot and gentleman, was running the FBO this day. He gave me a suggestion regarding an oddity I experienced while flying the RNAV 36 into the field. He also loaned me his pickup for an hour and declined my offer to put gas in it. One doesn't find a kinder, more helpful, aviation person. The runway is fine, the FBO facilities sufficient, the fuel better than reasonably priced. * * * * recommendation. Jay J., Lancair 360,

Good small FBO with very welcoming and useful staff. Fine fuel costs too. They also have a courtesy car on a first come basis. Athens is not a location to get stuck at when bad weather is looming. Highly recommend it!

Fuel remains shut down. They’re saying it’ll be another couple of weeks.

It was a pleasure seeing Mr Dyson again today after a couple of years. Adequate facilities and most affordable fuel in the area. I will return.
