Mackinac County Airport (83D)

Excellent airport with a pleasant FBO and an attendant there full-time. Fuel was priced very reasonably, and using the self-serve system was simple. There is plenty of free space in the tie-down area, which is always a nice bonus. The one thing I did notice was the PAPI being out of service during my visit, though that seems pretty common at a number of airports in the U.P. All in all, a great GA stop with friendly service and solid facilities.

Fine, big tarmac with many tie down spots. The FBO operator was very helpful and allowed us to use the car the eve before to get to motel and return in morning. Sadly I was uncertain where to put the car keys when I brought it back (he was not around) so I put it on his desk. Phoned him later and got sworn at for not leaving keys in car. Errored on the safe side. Anyway...I think overall a good place and guy but be cautious...if you don't get it right you may get cussed out.

Fuel is Jet-A Plus, or Positive, with Prist.

Just a heads-up-the fuel pump added .25 gallons to the meter the moment it was switched on. Aside from that, it was a nice airport, and the FBO building was nice.

Fine airport. Sadly, no entry after hours. Could not even utilize the restroom because it was secured. Self service fuel was accessible.
