Decent dirt airstrip overall. Super long and fine width. Recommend larger tires and no wheel pants, as there are some softball-sized rocks scattered in a few spots. Keep an eye out for deer—we had a few cross the runway just before takeoff. A soft-field landing technique works well here; surface is manageable with proper technique. No services available, but it’s a nice pit stop when touring Crater Lake. Thanks to Paul for the access!

This airstrip has gone thru many alterations I first observed this airstrip in its prime time back in the summer of 1966 when I was a new hire at the USFS in Prospect Oregon. Every Friday around dusk I passed this airport on my way home in the valley . I had no clue I would become the manager and part owner, now at 77 I and my other investor have decided to put it and the other one half mile of land at the south end of the runway up for sale. Didn’t think I would ever do that but then I don’t think Greg or I would ever own it. Lawson L. [email protected]

9-20-2024 flew my Piper 250 Comanche in. I have 3 bladed prop with fine ground clearance. Don't suggest landing if your prop does not have good ground clearance. I did quite a bit of bouncing on the soft sandy runway.
