April 29, 2025I had friends who were staying at the state park, so I flew into 1M9 to connect with them for lunch. The runway is superb, and parking was straightforward. I was only staying a couple of hours, and it was a Sunday with literally zero other planes around, so everything was simple. As others said, don't expect cell service here; you're away from it all! Flying over the lake on the way out was particularly nice. Talk to Campbell approach on the radio if you're coming from the southeast.

October 6, 2024We came to Lake Barkley for an overnight stay. Caution to folks who rely heavily on technology, upon our arrival there was no cell service in town. We could not call for a ride, but fine people are nearby. The lodge also had a power outage, but the dining room was beautiful and I'll attempt again. There is no landline at the airport. Flight services become an exercise in creativity in an area with no wifi/cell/landline service and no vehicle to get to coverage, so plan ahead. Turkey and deer abound.

April 17, 2024Airport is in fine condition and they came and picked us up within 20min of calling that we were there. While it shows its age, the place is going thru a renovation to update all the facilities. If you stay in one of the cottages plan for a lot of walking, otherwise everything else is convenient to the main Lodge. The staff are super friendly and service was good, and had the best Hot Brown I've found in KY. The lodge and cottages are pet friendly too. Bring your own tie down ropes!
