February 20, 2026Definitely worth the effort. Gorgeous setting with a lot of riparian recreation options. Kept a slow, gradual descent, so the approach following the river into 29 was pretty uneventful. Runway was in good shape, no bumps or potholes. Trees on final. Chop and drop once you’re clear. I would not advise 11 because go-around options are limited. Mountain flying experience encouraged. Watch for people and pets on the runway.

July 21, 2025Quite overgrown with weeds. Left half of RWY 29 specifically has many plants growing up through cracks, although not an issue if you drift a bit right of centerline. Ridge on approach to 29, no issue if you are familiar with a somewhat steeper approach while still making your touchdown spot. Simple enough to follow the river both into 29 and out of 11 for minimum terrain. Not much there, vehicle access paths are unpaved and rutted.

July 3, 2025Steelhead Lodge and Motel closed permanently. Motel is now tribe housing. Wine Line Tap Room (old steelhead restaurant) was closed July 4th week end. No tie downs! Some weeds growing thru cracks on the runway. Parking area is very overgrown with berries, vegetation . Dirt road in/out of the airport is also deteriorating.
