Siletz Bay State (S45)

Blustery and gusty on arrival, but staying on the centerline made it pretty manageable. Lots of transient parking available, with decent asphalt. The walk across the hwy. was easy. Red Roof Munchery was better than expected. Side Door Cafe happened to be closed that Sunday, so I’ll need to give it a try another time. Also, remember to text your tail number to the state-there are signs posted-as it sounds like that helps support airport funding.

The brief walk across the highway to Side Door Cafe is definitely worth it. A new campsite has been added at the north end of the field, complete with wood, a fire pit, and a picnic table.

Spent a few evenings at this facility. Good small airport if you can find a VFR window to get in, as there’s no IFR approach and the coastal fog socks the field in often. No WX station, but fine ramp and tie down area, and port a potty. No attendance, no troubles or charges. Will return for staying the in the Lincoln, Depoe Bay Area.
