Copalis State (S16)

What a great little place! Landed there on April/25, and I just followed what others have posted here-everything worked out great. Be sure to look at the tide schedule and arrive about 1–1:30 hours before low tide. That gives you the biggest, firmest runaway possible. Also check the razor clam season dates, since the beach gets packed with people then. There’s no stamp on the beach, but take a picture (I'm sure you will) to proof your landing for the Fly Washington Passport! Have fun

Tried landing today. Way light hit ground fog reduced forward viz to about 1/3 mile. Anything above 50agl was clear. Didn't land due to several exposed rooks south of Copalis rock in area of "runway". Also several small logs, people walking and a "shelf" of sand holding standing water in dark sand. I'm not good enough to pick my exact spot of just 500 feet of clear, dark sand with no standing water or debris. Maybe next time. Better landing spots farther south....but illegal.

Visited 01/26/25- other remarks here about where to park are serious- definitely do not be tempted to park anywhere near the water side of the packed sand of the "runway"- as yes, you will get stuck. We were over 100 yards from water- but the beach is very flat anyway and if you see any of those little rivulets or little wet spots anywhere around, avoid that and seek drier ground to leave the plane. Fortunate it was clam season and we found more people to help us push it to a firmer spot.
