New Cuyama (L88)

I’m here at the moment, walking from one end of the runway to the other and checking it all over. It’s in outstanding shape. The parking area is clean too, with no weeds or brush. A handful of sections look like they’ve been repaired, and the color differences show, but there isn’t even a divot anywhere on the runway. Honestly, anything from a piston aircraft up to a jet could use this strip, and it would still be smoother than most airports out there. Kudos to the BlueSky folks, and thanks for taking such good care of this gem.

Update as of Dec. 13 from the owner is that their repair claim has been accepted and they will give reports on the repairs schedule. Runway has been damaged while in use as helicopter base during the Madre and Gifford wildfires. Asphalt shows rutting and shoving caused by heavy loads during excessively hot conditions - showing as waves and grooves intermittently dispersed in the center of the runway. Repairs anticipated before the conclusion of 2025.
