Good fly-in destination. Airport is managed by the state park and although staffed it is not a full service FBO. There is a noise abatement procedure that involves staying over the water in the pattern until on final to avoid flying over the island. Green Bay Radio FSS is still reachable on the ground on 122.3 for closing flight plans and getting IFR clearances.

Awesome scenic island approach. If you can, fuel up at 83D Mackinac County in St. Ignace, it's a 10 minute flight across. Incredible fall views of the foliage. You can then do a 30 minute walk downtown or a cash only horse drawn ride. Landing fees can be paid by credit card at the airport office.

Good airport. My spouse and I visit frequently. Depending on the time you show up and when you depart, you might be parking on the pavement or the turf. If you arrive while the facility is staffed, you will be welcomed and guided to parking via the Unicom. There is a horse drawn taxi that can take a while to get here and moves around the speed of a quick stroll. My spouse and I walk. We possess a folding cart that we put our luggage in and walk. From the facility to the Grand Hotel is around 1.25 miles.
