January 7, 2025This airport is the real deal for mountain flying. The runway is superb and sits at the top of a plateau with converging winds on all sides. Use caution for wind shear and up/down drafts. Friendly people. Worth the visit for the challenge. Cheap, convenient fueling, as well.

October 3, 2024Spectacular airport. Not your typical hay field. Well worth a visit. Mark who mans the FBO is a fine host. The one letdown was that the courtesy car is broken and out of service - apparently for like a year. It is frustrating that millions are spent on developing and maintaining the large runway, ILS system, and planned new terminal building. But the lack of an inexpensive courtesy car makes the field much less useful to visiting pilots. Hope it's fixed soon.

August 12, 2024Operations: Be advised 2 jet have struck the mountain on the approach end of rwy 25. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LAND RWY 25 IN WIND ABOVE 30 KNOTS GUST. ANTICIPATE HIGH TURBULENCE IN ALL WIND CONDITIONS OVER 20 KNOTS. If wind is over 15 knots it is advised to fly 1 dot high on the ILS and aim to land at minimum 1000 feet from the approach end of 25. That said, yes the personnel is good, the camping superb and the view amazing.
