I had an unplanned stop here for fuel at sunset. I could not depart and thought I would be stranded. Big thank you to the airport manager Randy for assisting me find lodging and giving me a ride to the hotel and for picking me up in the morning.

After a long deviation around weather in the southeast, I had to select a new fuel stop. I was pleased to see what a fine field I had picked. Abernathy field mixes the old world FBO's we appreciate, with what appears to be a brand spanking new runway. The lights were bright, and the assistance was top-notch. Special thanks to Randy. The airport manager for assisting me work thru a tough go no-go choice. His skill and long time around planes came in particularly useful that day.

Please call before you depart for this airport to make sure the manager will be available to provide fuel. This is a full service only fuel station, and several times I have come to this field and the manager was gone. 2M2 (Lawrence County) airport is nearby for self service fuel if needed.
