Noble County (I10)

Stayed overnight at the RAF campsite. Looks like there was also a newer shed with a cot available. Squawk VFR to access the carts, shed, and terminal building.

Spent the weekend camping at the RAF airplane campsite and had a great time. There are three sites, each with plenty of room for a large tent, plus two outhouses close by. The campsites sit roughly 100 yards from the airplane parking area. RAF even provides two buggy wagons, which made hauling gear a lot easier. The FBO is unattended, but there’s a refrigerator stocked with self-serve drinks on the honor system. HIGHLY recommend it for a weekend escape!

This is a good spot to visit but contrary to the prior remark, there is no FBO. I am told that there was an FBO many years ago but these days the structure is unattended. There are rest rooms in the old FBO structure but they are not especially clean or welcoming. Beware of the trees on the approach to runway 23, which have grown up close to or into the 40:1 Obstacle Clearance Surface. The runway itself is in a fair condition as are most but not all of the aircraft parking areas.
