Pretty cool airport, but it’s a tricky one. There’s only one way in and one way out, and you’ve got restricted airspace to keep an eye on. The chip and seal runway takes a little getting used to, but it’s in better shape weed-wise than a lot of places in New Mexico. Take a look at the observatory on the way in, and definitely check density altitude! Worth a visit for sure.

I drove to E02 to inspect the runway before flying in. The runway was resurfaced unknown date with loose gravel, no markings, and has large 2-3ft weeds growing in spots. Northern parking area is rough dirt and unsafe to taxi. This airport ought to be closed. Land at your own risk.

Neat town & airport, lots of trees and terrain. One way in, one way out, avoiding the restricted area needs some sharp maneuvering, a hard right on landing and a hard left after takeoff. Runway surface is unconventional, it (barely) counts as paved, but it functions. No tie downs or services available.
