Good practice for backcountry planes. I have been several times with my PA-12 and it's well kept and a fine place to get some grass work in. Likely fine for most small tri's with slow approach speeds. There is gas on the field. Wood County has weather and is a couple of miles away. Nice to have a public field for us grass lovers.

Flew a Carbon cub to Fredericksburg, chose 3F9 because of grass runway with fuel. Mrs Wisener showed up when I landed on a Sunday afternoon. She shared a little history. Grass strip built in 1917. First hangar in 1927. Grass was good. Interesting stop. Likely not for the Cirrus pilot.

All the below. Flew in with PA-28 for weekend to visit family. The Wisener’s met me and helped tie down plane. It was really neat to practice grass landings on superb parallel rwy (approach for rwy18 is a little challenging as mentioned above but plenty of rwy to get straightened out and dwn).
