October 27, 2025Good practice for backcountry planes. I have been several times with my PA-12 and it's well kept and a fine place to get some grass work in. Likely fine for most small tri's with slow approach speeds. There is gas on the field. Wood County has weather and is a couple of miles away. Nice to have a public field for us grass lovers.

September 16, 2025Flew a Carbon cub to Fredericksburg, chose 3F9 because of grass runway with fuel. Mrs Wisener showed up when I landed on a Sunday afternoon. She shared a little history. Grass strip built in 1917. First hangar in 1927. Grass was good. Interesting stop. Likely not for the Cirrus pilot.

September 21, 2021All the below. Flew in with PA-28 for weekend to visit family. The Wisener’s met me and helped tie down plane. It was really neat to practice grass landings on superb parallel rwy (approach for rwy18 is a little challenging as mentioned above but plenty of rwy to get straightened out and dwn). Self-service gas is simple and good. The aviation museum is a wonderful touch. Thank you Lupita and Bob. grassrootsaviationms
