March 16, 2026Runway is in decent shape, just not very smooth asphalt. Both windsocks were working. I checked the winds before starting my descent with my Avidyne computer--if they were over 10 knots around 9000 feet, I wasn't going to land. Wind shear is one concern, but so is not having a really good go around safety option. My go-no-go point is 9000 feet for my personal minimums. Landing on 34 gives you an uphill slope, but the go around options are poor because of rising terrain to the north. 16 is downhill, but it has a safer go around path.

January 10, 2026This is a neat spot to visit but involves a fair amount of hazard getting in. Anticipate low level wind shifts including tail winds on final. Be mindful that this strip has taken a couple of planes this year because of wind shear. As stated the chip seal is a bit uneven.

July 11, 2024Runway 34 is uphill into rising terrain and 16 is slightly downhill with a 100 ft ridge a mile away. Runway is paved and in fine shape, good location! Stayed the night at Bar 10 ranch and it was such a fun experience. Family friendly, slept in a covered wagon and had ranch dinner. Reservations required it's not a drop in location but highly recommended! Bring your own tie downs and anchors.
