Moose Creek /Usfs/ (1U1)

I visited this past weekend (6/13/26), and the runway was in good shape. I couldn't find any aircraft tie-downs in the spot marked on the airport map. I also made the hike up to the watchtower. The description says 10 miles round trip, but expect a pretty grueling climb on a heavily overgrown trail, with blow-downs across wide sections that make staying on the trail challenging. Still a worthwhile hike. It took me 4:45. Plenty of water for your dog during the first 2/3.

The opening section of runway 19 is rough, though still firm. By mid-May, the grass was cut short, and most of last year's wind damage had been cleared away. Campers were set up along both sides of the runways. One of the ranger buildings houses a nice little museum.

Major recent storm damage to trees, campsites and cabin. Use caution.
