This strip looks like it's shut down. People local to the area say it has been closed for years. Runway is in awful condition, I really should not not have landed my C182 there, but I assumed the ruts I was seeing were in gravel when actually they are in rock hard dirt. On takeoff I literally started from the street so I could already be off the ground before the worst ruts came up. (South 1/3 in decent cond except for one pothole). If you do come in with a super cub, etc. there is a U-Haul dealer. We drove out to the gem fields and had a good time.

Runway does not seem to be kept up, on the ground it looks more like a single lane dirt road that locals utilize. Did not observe a windsock or any other runway markings. Portion of the runway covered with wild grass, burro droppings and there is loose gravel on the surface. Power lines to the East run parallel to the runway, and there is a dwelling on the approach end of runway 1. No issue landing a Husky, Cessna, etc. with stock tires but bigger tires and prop clearance is an advantage.

It is not quite the center of nowhere, but it is near. The International Car Forest is fascinating. This was the largest town in Nevada in the early 1900s. The folks I met there were very cordial.
