Vernonia Municipal (05S)

Really nice grass strip. Vernonia golf course is about a 10-minute walk, and there’s a good campground along the river maybe 2 minutes away. Lots of nearby hiking and fishing as well.

Runway is in fine condition, parking is situated on the south east section of the field. It’s a little over two miles to a wonderful bike trail that runs between Banks and Vernonia.

Runway was in fine shape. Note that the approach for 27 is dog-legged due to obstacles. Also, there is no windsock. Instead there are a couple of orange flags that give you a general notion of wind conditions. There is a small city park that has day use spaces and camping sites just south of the runway. We found a good little bridge behind the blue hangar (south of the small road) that takes you straight to the park. Very nice park and camp site. Would certainly come back to use the camp sites.
